Museu Sa Bassa Blanca

The Sa Bassa Blanca Museum is a unique space where art, nature and architecture come together harmoniously. The museum features various exhibition areas: the Aljibe, a former water cistern now housing NINS, a one-of-a-kind collection of children’s portraits from the 16th to 19th centuries; Sokrates, a space inspired by a Renaissance cabinet of curiosities where ethnographic works sit alongside contemporary art by Barceló, Bourgeois or Cattelan; and the building designed by Hassan Fathy, the only Hispano-Moorish construction of its kind in Europe, which holds a collection combining Australian and Moroccan Indigenous art, ethnographic objects and contemporary works by artists such as Domenico Gnoli, Rebecca Horn and Miquel Barceló. The house also preserves a 15th-century Mudéjar coffered ceiling listed as Cultural Heritage. Outdoors, visitors can explore the sculpture park featuring nearly one hundred works by Ben Jakober and Yannick Vu. The garden, designed by Yannick Vu as a medieval “Hortus Conclusus”, blends aromatic plants, flowers, artistic installations and a magnificent ancient olive grove known as OlivArt.
