El Fòrum

El Fòrum

Roman forum with temple remains, tabernae, an aedicula and a late necropolis. A social and religious centre where excavations continue.

This area was the social and religious centre of the city. Within it, visitors can see remains of the capitol temple, a group of tabernae (shops) forming the commercial district, as well as other structures, notably an aedicula, which is currently central to research on Pol·lèntia’s urban layout. Today, archaeological excavations take place in the forum during the summer season. The prolonged use of this space ended with the establishment of a necropolis (around AD 600).
