Camí d’Alcanada

The goal of this route is to reach Alcanada Beach, directly facing the small island of the same name. The coastline here is low and rocky, with stretches of pebble beach. The vegetation reaches almost to the water, giving the area a unique natural charm. The walk can begin at Porta de Xara or the harbour, heading toward the port along Pol·lèntia Street using the pedestrian lane beside the road. Once at the harbour, via Teodor Canet Street, continue to the fishermen’s jetty, then along Gabriel Roca Street and finally Camí d’Alcanada, which leads to the beach. After the roundabout, the street rises uphill, and to the right stands a former power station now out of use. Shortly afterwards, via a small path to the right, you will find Torre Major, a 17th-century watchtower built to protect the coast during times of pirate attacks. After this stop, continue towards the Alcanada residential area, where the coastline becomes more scenic with a small pine forest leading to the beach. After several hundred metres the path ends with a view of Alcanada Island. The return can be made along the same route or via the Roman Theatre path after reaching the port.
