Sant Sebastià Gate

Sant Sebastià Gate

Medieval gate linking Alcúdia with the royal road to Palma. It preserves the moat, the 1963 restored towers and a 16th-century city coat of arms.

Among the most striking features of the medieval walls are their access gates. The Gate of Mallorca, also known as the Sant Sebastià Gate, connected the town of Alcúdia with the royal road to Palma. Today it preserves the moat and retains the appearance given by the 1963 restoration by G. Alomar: two freestanding towers linked by a large machicolation crowned with battlements. A 16th-century city coat of arms can also be seen.
